3. This 1999 VW Beetle is engineered to demonstrate the loss of
control that is experienced when you operate a motor vehicle while
impaired. A trained mentor, who sits in the front passenger’s seat,
controls the settings causing changes in the vehicle’s steering and
braking abilities. Only drivers who present a valid driver’s
license can sit behind the wheel. Others can go along for the
ride in the backseat! Go to
www.padui.org/bug.htm for a preview ride!
“You can gain real-life exposure to the perils of impaired driving –
without being at risk – when you drive the SafetyBug,” notes Tanya
Jones, director of the Professional Development Center for Excellence at
the School of Justice/co-chairman of Justice Month 2006. “We are hoping
that by bringing it to CCBC we can avert tragedy this prom season.”
