CCBC celebrates Justice Month 2006
Free events will be held through April 26

Baltimore County, Md. - The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) School of Justice is hosting its third annual Justice Month on CCBC campuses through April 26. All Justice Month 2006 programs and events are free and open to the public. For additional information, call 443-840-3740.

Upcoming Justice Month 2006 programs include:

April 4 - Safe Driving Seminar from 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4 on CCBC’s Catonsville campus, 800 S. Rolling Road. This program is free and open to students and the community. For additional information, call 443-840-3740

  • Safe Driving Seminar from 9 – 11:30 a.m. in the Q Theatre featuring Cindi Lamb Mann, the co-founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Dr. R. L. Wright, a retired Baltimore City Police Officer, author of Street Smart and owner/operator of a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center in Dundalk, and representatives from the Baltimore County Drunk Driving Monitors Program.
  • Seat Belt Simulator from the Maryland State Police
  • Safety Fair exhibitors from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Q Theatre Mezzanine
  • Pennsylvania DUI SafetyBug from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. in Parking Lot 3. This 1999 VW Beetle is engineered to demonstrate the loss of control that is experienced when you operate a motor vehicle while impaired. A trained mentor, who sits in the front passenger’s seat, controls the settings causing changes in the vehicle’s steering and braking abilities. Only drivers who present a valid driver’s license can sit behind the wheel. Others can go along for the ride in the back seat

April 19 - Juvenile Delinquency – Crime and Consequences, a presentation by Baltimore County Police Officer and CCBC professor George Mussini at 1 – 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, N-220, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

April 20 - Drunk Driving Seminar will be held Thursday, April 20, K Building Theatre and Dance Studio, CCBC Dundalk.

  • The Drunk Driving Seminar from 9 – 11 a.m. in the K Building Theatre features Cindi Lamb Mann of MADD and R.L. Wright, author of Street Smart.
  • Kramer Drunk Driving Simulator that imitates a driver’s reaction time as his/her alcohol consumption increases, will be available in the K Building Dance Studio.
  • Safety Fair exhibitors
  • Maryland State Police Seat Belt Simulator

April 26 - Legal and Criminal Justice Professional Panel will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, Room 100 in the G Building at CCBC Dundalk. This program will explore - through the eyes of practicing professionals – the many and varied career options available to those seeking careers in the legal and criminal justice fields.

Justice Month 2006 focuses on timely topics of interest from the criminal justice and legal studies fields. The CCBC School of Justice brings experts in the field and the latest technology to CCBC to educate students and the general public. This year’s two safe driving seminars are being presented to coincide with prom and graduation seasons and hopefully will prevent needless accidents. High School students from Baltimore County high schools have been invited to attend one of these events.
