WELDING

CCBC is offering a series of welding courses that will take you from beginning skills and techniques in Fundamentals of Welding through additional courses that cover intermediate and advanced Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc and Gas Tungsten Arc welding processes. If you have basic welding experience, you can take intermediate and/or advanced classes. Through a partnership with Earlbeck Gases and Technologies, classes will be held at the company location which is fully equipped to offer hands-on training and instruction.

MIG, TIG, and Stick Welding Basics

Understand all the safety precautions associated with these types of welding, MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and Stick (shielded metal arc), the benefits and drawbacks of using each and how to weld using all three methods. Intermediate Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

Learn how to prepare material and perform flat, horizontal, and vertical fillet and groove welds on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Practice is geared toward thin material applications. Included are certification tests to AWS 17.1 Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications.

Fundamentals of Welding

Learn equipment set-up, basic techniques and safety for oxy-fuel welding and cutting, STICK, MIG and TIG welding. In this foundation course you will also discuss basic metallurgy, welding codes, welding inspection and welding symbols.

Learn the processes of shielded metal arc welding including how to perform fillet and grove welds on carbon steel using E6010 and E7018 electrodes in all positions. Practice is geared toward structural welding code vertical and overhead tests. Passing these tests provides an all position, limited thickness AWS D1.1 welder certification.

Passing the certification test provides an all-position, limited thickness, AWS D1.1 welder certification in FCAW and vertical D1.3 structural sheet metal code certification in GMAW.
