Radiation Therapy Technology
RTTT 101 – 1 Credit
Orientation to Radiation Therapy I
Provides an introduction into the field of Radiation Therapy. The course introduces students to the health care field and the education process associated with the Radiation Therapy Program. Students will be required to complete a four-hour obersavation day at an affiliated Radiation Onocology facility.

Diagnostic Sectional Anatomy
Diagnostic Sectional Anatomy explores sectional anatomy via diagrams and radiologic images. Encompassed are different diagnostic modalities to include equipment functionality.

Introduction to Clinical Education
Introduces students to clinical aspects of Radiation Therapy through simulated lab and clinical rotations.

RTTT 107 – 2 Credits
Clinical Education I
Provides a foundation of knowledge of skills for students to base their clinical experience. The practice of radiation therapy and its role in the multidisciplinary treatment of cancer are explored.

Clinical Education II
Presents the application of radiation therapy treatment principles and techniques; integrates the treatment techniques and oncology principles introduced in the classroom with treatment techniques in the clinical experience.

RTTT 111 – 3 Credits
Principles of Radiation Therapy I
Provides an overview of the foundation of radiation therapy and the practitioner's role in the health care delivery system. Principles, practices and policies of a JRCERT accredited radiation therapy program, professional health care organization and clinical responsibilities related to the radiation therapist will be examined.

Principles of Radiation Therapy II
Principles of Radiation Therapy II provides students with additional knowledge of radiation protection, radiobiology, quality management and other fundamental knowledge for a clinical practitioner.

RTTT 125 – 3 Credits
Radiation Therapy Physics I
Reviews fundamental physics knowledge with an introduction to radiation therapy physics. This course covers physical units, measurements, basic principles, atomic structure, types or radiation, x-ray production and radiation interactions.

Radiation Therapy Physics II
Radiation Therapy Physics II provides an analysis of the structure of matter, properties of radiation, nuclear transformations, x-ray production, and interactions of ionizing radiations. Measurement and quality of ionizing radiation, absorbed dose measurement, dose distribution and scatter analysis are introduced.

Trends in Radiation Therapy
Trends in Radiation Therapy provides the students with an overview of the current trends and advances in the field of radiation therapy. Students are expected to attend scheduled conferences and field trips.

Clinical Oncology I
Clinical Oncology I introduces the development and definition of malignant and abnormal pathology. The course explains basic disease concepts, theories of disease causation, and system-by-system pathophysiologic disorders most frequently encountered in clinical practice. The processes involved in the development and classification of both benign and malignant tumors are introduced.

RTTT 204 – 3 Credits
Clinical Oncology II
Clinical Oncology II explores the development and definition of malignant and abnormal pathology. Modalities and rationale of clinical treatment are presented. The epidemiology, etiology, detection, diagnosis, patient condition, treatment and prognosis of neoplastic disease will be presented, discussed, and evaluated in relationship to histology, anatomical site, and patterns of metastasis.

RTTT 206 – 3 Credits
Clinical Education III
Clinical Education III builds upon the clinical experiences and foundation gained in Clinical Education II. The course integrates the treatment concepts and principles of oncology introduced in the classroom with treatment techniques performed in the clinic.

Clinical Education IV
Clinical Education IV provides students with culminating experiences and opportunities to combine comprehensive responsibilities of an entry-level radiation therapist.

RTTT 212 – 3 Credits
Dosimetry I
Dosimetry I explores established factors that influence and govern clinical planning of patient treatment. Course encompasses isodose descriptions, patient contouring, radiobiologic considerations, dosimetric calculations, compensation, and clinical application of treatment beams. Optimal treatment planning is emphasized along with particle beams.

Dosimetry II
Dosimetry II builds on the knowledge gained in Dosimetry I by applying the theory and practice of optimal treatment planning.
